Frances was married to Alpheus Eugene Clonts. They were married April 9, 1955. Al died in 1994 and Frances died of complications of a broken hip secondary to Alzheimers.

Frances was born one of 11 children to Eugene A. Thurston and Lena Burnett Thurston. She adopted Marigrace Clonts (me) in 1961. She was a person that was as good as gold. Very compassionate and loved to read to the school children in the area she lived in. She was my best friend and a wonderful mother. She was diagnosed with alzheimers in April 2000 and moved in with my EX-husband, David Swierzynski, and I. She broke her hip on Oct. 2000 and the hip became infected and had to be removed. She got a MRSA staph infection and slipped into a coma and died. She suffered for a week and fought to remain here on earth to protect those she loved. A job she did well on this earth. She was kind, compassionate and always willing to open her door to any one needing help and to all the stray animals my dad and I drug home. She was not a big animal fan, but she did all she could for the ones we brought home. It was nothing to have 4 dogs and 5 cats in our home at any given time. All strays mostly. She is an angel in Heaven I know, because she was already an angel when she was here. I wrote a poem for her. You may access it by going to and searching under Marigrace Swierzynski and then clicking on the poem titled "DEATH" It is being published in a book this fall. My mom left behind many grand children and great grand children that love her dearly and miss her so.

In memory of Frances Lawson Thurston Clonts, my mother

Death came and took her while she lay sleeping
While all of us were sitting, weeping.

My mother lay upon her bed
with childhood thoughts within her head.

Her memory and life lived all gone,
While she had fought the alzheimers for so long.

A perfect rose she always was
A treasure to know and to love.

As she left this world we know,
To Heaven we knew she would surely go.

Full of love and full of Grace,
No one can ever take her place.

As she walks with God above,
She is a reminder of His gracious love.
