OBITUARY-

Effie Alice Jones was born in a log cabin near Table Rock, Nebraska, on April 10, 1877, the last of the family of five children of John A. and Ellen Jones. Her parents were among the very earliest settlers of our community.

Mr. Jones came to the Clear Creek precinct from Morth Cardigan Shire, Wales, in 1858, to be followed by his bride several months later. Their marriage was one of special occasions of the early history of Table Rock. The Rev. C. W. Giddings pronounced them man and wife in that early Methodist congregation.

Following the birth of Effie Alice, the family moved into a frame house that became their home for the next forty years.

She graduated school in Clear Creek and grew to young womanhood in this area. She was married to Arthur G. Horton on September 3, 1900, and they moved to Table Rock some time later. Two daughters were born the Horton family, Mrs. Clarence Ritchie of Pawnee City, and Mrs. Marjorie Duffin of Washington, D. C.

Mrs. Horton joined the Methodist Church at the age of 12 and lived a Christian life through the years. She was very faithful to her church until serious illness confined her to her home twelve years ago. She quietly left this life on September 27, 1959, from her home at the advanced age of 82 years.

Mrs. Horton was a loving wife and mother, as well as a faithful friend. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, two daughters, three grandchildren, Betty Ritchie, stationed in Germany, Ronald Ritchie, and Gregory Duffin of Pawnee City and Washington, D. C. respectively; and three great-grandchildren.
