ANOTHER OLD RESIDENT GONE

In the death of Mrs. O. D. Tibbets, Table Rock lost another old resident of the city and community. Her death occurred at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, May 3, 1927, after an acute illness of about ten days. She had been in failing health for the past two years. Her husband had been engaged in the general merchandise business in Table Rock for many years, and during most of that time Mrs. Tibbets conducted a millinery store in connection with her husband's business. Because of her business relationships, Mrs. Tibbets had a large acquaintance among the people of this community and she was universally esteemed for her integrity and strict business honor. With advancing old age she retired from active business and devoted her time to her home. She will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends.

Martha Pangburn was born in Clark county, Indiana, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Pangburn, July 31, 1848, and died at Table Rock, May 3, 1927, aged 78 years, 9 months and 2 days. With her parents she came to Pawnee county from Indiana in 1863, locating on a farm, where she resided until her marriage to Oscar D. Tibbets, and they moved to Missouri, where they resided about a year and then returned to a farm near Pawnee City. In 1873 she and her husband together with her parents, moved to Table Rock, which has been her home since.

Two children, both boys, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Tibetts, the younger one died in December 1881, aged eight years, and the other died on the 7th of March following, both boys dying from pneumonia. The death of her boys was a bitter disappointment to Mrs. Tibbets and she never ceased to mourn for them.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian church Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, the deceased having been a faithful member of that church for many years. She leaves an aged husband, two sisters and three nephews, all of whom are here for the funeral services.

Table Rock Argus, Feb. 4, 1927.

In the obituary of Mrs. Martha E. Tibbets as published last week, no mention was made of her marriage, which event took place, to Oscar D. Tibbets on January 1, 1871. After their marriage they lived for a time in Missouri and then came to Table Rock, where they resided until her death, both taking an active part in the business life of the town. Mr. Tibbets going into the meat market business and later into general merchandise, and Mrs. Tibbets into the millinery business, both doing a successful business.
