Anchorage Daily News December 6, 1997

Anchorage resident Louis Franklin Curry, 76, died Dec. 1, 1997, at his son's home in Anchorage. Visitation was at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel.

Mr. Curry was born April 5, 1921, in Fredrick, Okla., to Fred and Elve Curry. He completed the seventh grade and served six years in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought at Guadalcanal. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Victory Medal. Mr. Curry moved to Alaska in 1972 and worked as an auto mechanic, welder, heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He enjoyed cooking, talking, fishing, gardening, traveling and working on cars. His family said: ''Anyone was always welcome at his dinner table. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and current on all political issues. The ridiculous misuse of federal funds was his greatest concern. He worked hard all of his life, paid his taxes and served in the military.''

Mr. Curry is survived by his son, Tommy Lynn Curry, daughter, Judy Gail Curry, granddaughter, Valerie Curinne Pickus, all of Anchorage; and his sister, Doris Sharp of Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements were by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes & Crematory.
