Wife of Rollin Benjamin Lane, Katherine was known as the ‘Tree Lady' as she was involved in community park projects. Lanewood Avenue in Hollywood is named after Rollin's mother and is still lined with towering pine trees most likely planted by Mrs. Lane after her husband bought the property. Lane was also very active and well-known in the community, serving as president of the Hollywood Women's Club, Ebell Club, Women's Press Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. She also founded the Lane Tree Club and the Perry Art Club, among others and in 1932, Lane was the official hostess to the Wisconsin delegates of the Olympics.
