Leading Man of Wapping and Donor of Library Dead, South Manchester, May 2 Henry Wells Sadd, one of the best known residents of Wapping, donor of the Sadd Memorial Library of that place and a leading factor in most of the improvements in that town, died this morning.
He was born in Wapping August 17, 1834, his parents being William and Maranetta Sadd, old residents of Wapping. He was a descendent of the early settlers of the colonists, his first American ancestor on his father's side being John Sadd, who settled in Hartford in 1674.Mr. Sadd was married three times. His first wife, who was Miss Abigail Avery of South Windsor, died in 1866. To his first marriage there were born four sons. His second wife was Miss Sarah Green, also of South Windsor, who died in 1871 and in 1872 he married Miss Ann Woodruff of Hartford, who survives him. To his last two marriages there were born one son to each, but the last child born died in infancy.
Those who survive him are: Arthur H., a farmer residing in Wapping; Elmer A., manager in one of the departments of Malley's department store, New Haven; Walter A., president of the Chattanooga Savings Bank, Chattanooga, Tenn.; William S., now residing in Utah, and Robert L. Sadd, a farmer of Wapping.He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. C.B. Ellsworth of East Windsor.
