BORGER - Robert "Bob" M. Adams, 85, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Highland Park Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors.

Bob was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Peru, Kan., to Charles and Lilian Adams. He married Margaret Louise Litchford on June 28, 1943, in Amarillo.

He served in the Third Army, 76th Infantry Division during World War II. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany clasp, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII and Expert Badge with Rifle Bar.

He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Isom Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, serving in many capacities, including secretary and worshipful master, and he earned the Golden Trowel Award for his outstanding service. He belonged to St. Andrew UMC in Borger.

Mr. Adams passed away at Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home in Amarillo, where he was a resident. The family greatly appreciates their loving and respectful care.

The family also appreciates and is grateful to the hospice nurses for their loving care of Mr. Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; two daughters, Cheryl Orman and husband Larry and Bobbie Sue Nichols and husband Ed, all of Amarillo; two grandsons, Jeff Baker and wife Cindy of Canyon and Kelly Baker and wife Amy of Houston; two granddaughters, Traci McKinley of Burleson and Keeley Orman-Adcox and husband Brad of Dripping Springs; and nine great-grandchildren, Colton, Braden, Madison, Blake, Andrew and Cara Baker, Sean McKinley, and Conner and Corbin Adcox; a sister, Lucy Conway of Bartlesville, Okla.; and many other loving family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219, 800-421-1121 (a Masonic charity); Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home and Alzheimer's Unit, 1020 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79124; or a favorite charity.
