The Kane, Pa Republican Tuesday, May 22, 1951- Captain Dean Curry, 28, Kane Pilot Completes Thousand Hours In B - 36
Captain Dean Curry, who began his flying days winging a B - 24 Liberator over Nazi targets during World War II, today has been rated as among the first airmen to complete 1,000 hours in the powerhouse of of the skies the B - 36. , Captain Curry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Curry of 410 Walnut street, completed 37 missions with the U. A. F. in World War II and then went on to bigger things the B - 29.

He was in the first globe-circling flight of the B - 29's and with the first crews to fly the then Giants of the air. His many flights in testing the sky giants have taken him to nlmost all parts of the globe.

Although he has flown the B - 36s and other planes over his home many times, only once was he able to "buzz" his home.

A couple of years ago he dropped a B - 36 down to 1,000 feet over Kane. The thunderous roar of the six pusher type engines on the plane rattled windows, shook cars and gave the hilltop the next thing to a minature earthquake. Most of the time the big planes fly at such a high altitude they are not visible from earth. Captain Curry, 28 years of age, is a pioneer in the B - 36 class flying and one of the crew which "proved" the giant for the U. S. A. F. Today, he is enroute back to Rapid City, South Dakota, to rejoin his crew after two weeks here with his parents and visiting his brother Elliott, at Dunkirk, N. Y. and sister, Mrs. Mildred Black at Round Hill, Va.
