Macy was a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private 1 Oct 1861 at the age of 24 years. He mustered into Co A 74th Ohio Infantry on 3 Jan 1862. Beason mustered out on 19 Mar 1863 at Nashville, Tennessee.
Macy applied for pension 19 Apr 1881 in Iowa. App #419132 and Cert #661702. His wife, Frances, applied for widow's pension in Iowa on 15 Jan 1890. App #494537 and Cert #306156.
NOTE: Headstone had date of death 15 Dec 1890, so wife Frances applied for his pension Jan of 1891 or year of death incorrect on headstone.

Macy Beason was the ninth child of Nathan and Sarah (Turner) Beason. He married Francis Burrows on July 8, 1857 in Atchison County, Missouri. (Vol. A Page 108)
Francis was the daughter of William E. and Parmelia (Burrows) Burrows. (Her mother's parents were Peleg and Polly (Burt) Burrows.)
Macy Beason Civil War file description he was five foot eight in height and had blue eyes and dark hair.
