Aircraft History
Built by Martin. Assigned to the 22nd Bombardment Group, 18 Reconnaissance Squadron (later, 408th Bombardment Squadron) during April 1942. Nicknamed "Lil Deicer".

Wartime History
Ferried to Australia by an aircrew led by pilot 1st Lt. Dill B. Ellis arriving at Amberley Field near Brisbane on February 22, 1942. First combat mission was May 4, 1942.

Mission History
Took off in the afternoon from Reid River Airfield for a ferry flight to Townsville. An engine failed on take off and it crashed off the eastern edge of the airfield. All the crew were killed in the crash.

Wreckage
The crash area and a debris field are still present to this day.

The remains of the crew were recovered and are buried in private cemeteries. Three of the crew are buried at Honolulu Cemetery (Punchbowl) Phipps at section F site 17. Oliver at section B site 395. Currie at section B site 316-S.
