Virginia R. Whitted, 66, of Muncie, died Friday at her home after a long illness.
She was born in Muncie, attended Central High School and lived in Muncie all her life.
Mrs. Whitted had worked at Rite-Aid Drugs for 10 years. She was previously employed by Russel Stover Candies and Ball Brothers. She was the secretary of the Moondusters Bowling League for 22 years and a member of the Salvation Army.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Orville D. Whitted; her children, Shirley Barnett (husband-Bill), Connie Jones (husband-Steve), Terry Whitted (wife-Margaret), John Whitted (wife-Edwina), Linda Tydingco, Kevin Whitted (wife-Jacque), all of Muncie, and Debbie Moreno (husband-Domingo), Yuma, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Chester Longfellow, Pat Longfellow and Robin Michael, all of Muncie; six sisters, Peggy Whitted, Sherry Anderson and Patti Hirst, all of Muncie, Barbara Thomas, Gardenia, Calif., Linda Palmer, Franklin, Tenn., and Sally Michael, Bay City, Mich.; several nieces and nephews, and a good friend, Skeeter Davis, Nashville, Tenn.
A brother, Richard Longfellow, died in March. Her parents, John Carlos and Ruby McClellan Longfellow, also preceded her in death.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Meeks Mortuary, with Major Sally Michael officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and before services Tuesday at the mortuary.
