Orval Lester Linebrink, 93, a resident of Friendship Village of Columbus, died on Sunday, February 6. 2000 at St. Ann's Hospital. He was born in Defiance County, Oh. He received. his B.A. Degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, 1929 and MA degree from University of Michigan, 1936. He taught math and physics at Columbus South and East High Schools. He worked 30 years at Battelle Memorial Institute as a research physicist and engineer. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. He received the Distinguished Fellow Award from the Instrument Society of America. He was a member and past President of AARP Chapter #252, 1976-77. He was inducted into the Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in 1980, received the Mayors Award for Voluntary Service in 1982 and the Dispatch Community Service Award in 1986,

Preceded in death by wife Ruth, a sister and brother. Survived by wife, Ann; son, Karl (Suzanne) Linebrink of Middletown; daughter, Carol (Don) Shoemaker of New Albany; son, Jon (Ruth) Linebrink of Smithfield, N.C.; 5 granddaughters, Amy (Doug) Flowers of New Albany, Beth (Brady) Curtis of Johnstown, Kim (Kevin) Elfers of Mason, Oh., Erika (Chris) Bisel of Reynoldsburg and Emily Shoemaker of Columbus; great- grandchildren, Chris Linebrink, Brittany, Brooke and Bryce Curtis, Robert Elfers, Anthony and Jessica Flowers, Tabitha and Anastasia Bisel. Friends may call Wednes­day, February 9, 2000 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the WEIR-AREND FUNERAL HOME, 4221 N. High St., (3 blocks of Henderson Rd.) where service will be held Thursday 1 p.m. Dr. Joel.
