Parents: Reuben and Lydia Ann (Koontz) Kite

Married: March 14, 1883
Brockport, New York
Wife: Henrietta Maurina (Allen) Burch Kite
Born: August 17, 1848, New York
Died: January 30, 1932, California
Daughter of Philemon Dwight & Harriet (Clark) Allen

Henrietta's first husband, Thaddeus K. Burch, served in the Civil War. They were married in 1869 and he passed away in 1879.

I do not know how or why John Kite was in Brockport, NY at the time that they married, but I think it might have had something to do with the Morgan & Seymour Company of Brockport. They commercialized the McCormick reaper, and I think John was a Midwestern (or Nebraska) sales representative. I have no proof of this, but I have found some circumstantial evidence. In any case, they did marry in 1883 in Brockport. At some point between 1883 and 1885, they returned to Nemaha County. John and Henrietta (and her son by her first marriage, Lester Burch) are listed in the 1885 Nebraska state census

After John died in 1890, Henrietta secured a position as a matron at the Oneida Indian Boarding School in Oneida, Wisconsin. She was there until 1898, when she married Peter F. Christison. He was killed in a horse accident in 1911. After that, she lived with her son (by her first marriage) until she died in Los Angeles, CA in 1932.
