"Mrs. Wirthlin, Pioneer Of Utah, Has Passed Away ~~~
Mrs. Anna Wirthlin a pioneer resident of Salt Lake and for the past twelve years a resident of Eureka died at her home in the city last Saturday morning; death resulting from a general debility. Mrs. Wirthlin was in her seventy fifth year.
The deceased was a native of Switerland. She came to Utah by ox team in 1861 as a member of the Horton D. Haight Company. A year later she married Leopold Wirthlin and seven children five of whom survive were born. The surviving children are Mrs. M. L. Gar[r]ity of Eureka; Joseph Wirthlin of Salt Lake; Paul Wirthlin of Payson and William Wirthlin and John E. Wirthlin both of Eureka.
Funeral sevices for Mrs. Wirthlin were held at the LDS Church in Eureka on Sunday afternoon and the following morning the body was shipped to Salt Lake where a second funeral service was held at the Eleventh Ward Chapel. The interment took place in the city cemetery at Salt Lake.
Mrs. Wirthlin lived a very active life until a year or two ago when her health commenced failing. She had a large circle of friends here in Eureka and was loved by all and consequently her death is generally regretted although the relatives and close friends cannot help but feel that a useful life has been brought to a fitting close."
