James Jasper Lance

James Jasper Lance, 77-year-old veteran of World War II and resident of the Centertown community, died after a one-day illness at Warren County Geneal Hospital, death coming at 4 p.m.

A retired farmer and member of the Church of Christ, he was married to the former Sarah Jones, who survives, and was a son of the late Wilford and Susan (Pennington) Lance.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Juanita McCatha, McMinnville; Mrs. Emma Simmons, Indiana; Mrs. Dorthy Thomas, Woodbury; Mrs. Corine Jones, Manchester, and Mrs. Jimmie Johnson, Woodbury; three stepsons, Hinkley Lance, Woodbury; J.V. Lance, Coffee County, and Carlos Lance, Westland, Mich.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Loretta Prater, McMinnville and Mrs. Alvena Hollis and Mrs. Edna Lewis, both of Woodbury; a brother, Joe Lance, Paris, Ill.; 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

With Odell Powell officiating, funeral services were held at p.m. Tuesday in Woodbury Funeral Home Chapel, interment being in Whitlock Cemetery.
