He was born on July 6, 1922, in Falls City to Alfred G. and Moida "Meta" Goesch Ehlers.
Mr. Ehlers was married to Rosie Louise Manka on Feb. 13, 1943, in Panna Maria.
He was a great cabinetmaker and carpenter, working from 1945-88 in San Antonio and Floresville. Mr. Ehlers had lived in Floresville for 59 years and a member of VFW Post 8555.
Mr. Ehlers was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and saw D-Day+5.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter Ehlers and Gus Ehlers; and sisters Elvira Ehlers and Lillian Ehlers Andrews.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Rosie Manka Ehlers of Floresville; a daughter, Pat Ehlers Talk of San Antonio; sons Clarence J. Ehlers and wife Joan McCloskey Ehlers of Floresville, and Harry Ehlers and wife Janice Nieschwietz Ehlers and Gary Ehlers and wife Pamela Pavliska Ehlers, all of San Antonio; grandchildren Scott Ehlers of Washington, D.C., Corey Ehlers and wife Jenni Springs Ehlers of San Antonio, Todd Ehlers of Blanco, Suzanne Ehlers of Washington, D.C., Larry Ehlers of Austin, and Kenneth Ehlers of San Marcos; and a great-grandson, Riley Ehlers of San Antonio.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 31, from 5-7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gordon Lindley of the Floresville Church of Christ officiating.
Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery in Karnes County.
Pallbearers were Scott Ehlers, Corey Ehlers, Todd Ehlers, Larry Ehlers, Kenneth Ehlers, and Wilbert Teltschik.
