Genevieve Ellen Flickinger Ames of All Saints Manor in Columbus, Ind., formerly of Americus and Emporia, died June 30, 2010, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with inurnment at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Americus Cemetery in Americus.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home, 3855 25th St., Columbus, ID 47203.

Genevieve Ellen "Jenny" Flickinger Ames of All Sanints manor in Columbus, Indiana, died June 30, 2010, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.Mrs Ames was a proficient seamstess and quilter. She worked many years at Amercius Grade school as a cook, then worked many years at Newman's Department Store in Emporia, Kansas. She was a licensed beautician and a farmer's wife as well.She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.Gardening, cooking and all kinds of needlework were some of her hobbies. She lived many years in the Americus, Kansas area. She lived many years at Horizon Plaza in Emporia,Kansas, moving to Columbus in 2008 to be closer to her family. She and her siblings faithfully kept a Round Robin letter going for over 60 years. Mrs Ames was born July 21, 1917, at the home in Waverly, Kansas to Anna Belle and Karl W. Flickinger. She married Kenneth Ames on October 3, 1940 He preceded her in death February 8, 1995.She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Herb Flickinger, and a sister, Alice Miller.A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. The family request casual dress.Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
