Funeral services for Hugh Mitchell Davis, 72 years old, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Seneca Baptist Church, with Rev. Leland May, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Otis Beaty, of Fairview officiating. Burial was in Seneca Cemetery.

Mr. Davis, who resided three miles east of Seneca, died Thursday afternoon Sept. 6th in Freeman Hospital, where he had been a patient five days.

Born June 2, 1890 in Georgia, Mr. Davis was employed as rural mail carrier for the Seneca post office from 1918 to 1955. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Seneca Baptist Church. He served as church clerk for a number of years and was also a member of the Board of Trustees for approximately 15 years.

Mr. Davis is survived by his widow, Mrs. Letha Davis; two daughters, Mrs. Delphene Pattay of Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Mrs. Jesebel Gallegos, Fresno, Calif. Pallbearers were Claude Cooper, Blaine Burkhart, Oren Morgan, H.N. Harrison, W.G. Boehning and Lester Mailes.
