Shane Craig Morris, 18, went to be with our heavenly father July 24, 2006.

He was born Feb. 6, 1988 in Whiteriver. Shane graduated from Blue Ridge High School May of 2006. While attending Blue Ridge, he was a member of the basketball, cross country and track teams. Shane loved to run. In 2003, he was one of three individuals from Blue Ridge who qualified for the Arizona State Cross Country Finals. In both 2004 and 2005, he received third place at the cross-country regional meet and helped the Blue Ridge Boys Cross Country team win the regional title, the team continued on to the state finals. Shane loved the outdoors. He loved Hondah and McNary, both he called home. He loved camping and fishing.

He was often seen playing basketball at the neighbor's house or at the courts in McNary with his friends. Shane was such a wonderful person. Though he was sometimes quiet, he had a big heart and goofy character. He enjoyed spending time with his family watching silly movies. Shane had the kind of laugh that made you want to laugh along with him. He had a unique sense of humor. Shane also loved his Angel; she was very special to him. Shane will always be remembered for his bright smile.

He is survived by his parents, Glenn and Sadie Burnette; his sister, Suzanne Morris and expected nephew Shane Jason Hooke; his brothers, Joshua Morris, Tyler Burnette and Colbert Burnette; his god-sisters, Yvette Goseyun, Amy George, Virginia Benevides, Danielle Dosela and J'shon Lee; his god-brother, Olajuwon Burnette. He had many aunts, uncles and cousins. Shane had many friends who will carry him in their hearts forever. His family and friends love him very much and will miss him dearly.

Shane's body was brought back Thursday, July 27 at 5 p.m. to Glenn and Sadie Burnette's residence in Hondah for a two-night wake. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Pinetop Lakes Ward in Pinetop. Burial was at the Ponderosa Pines Cemetery in McNary.
