Lil Cole married William "Uncle Bill" Cole and her sister Ella married his brother Lester. The Cole brothers were sons of William P. and Mary E. Cole of Norwalk, Connecticut. The couples were close and lived on the same farm land.

She and "Uncle Bill" owned Cole's Fruit Farm in Wilton, Connecticut. Their apple orchard was beautiful and produced some of the most delicious apple cider in the county.

Lil was a funny woman and a pleasure to know. She worked hard beside Bill and I don't believe I ever saw her in any clothing except work clothes. She had beautiful silver hair and a fantastic deep laugh.

Bill's brother Peter often took his sons to the farm to pick apples in the fall. Lil worked just as hard as each man picking fruit and tending the apple and fruit trees. She also worked in the storage basement and huge walk in cooler cleaning and sorting the apples for baskets or cider. The monster cider press smelled of apples year round.

She lived to be 96 years old!
