Vernon Paul Barnett, 32, died 2 July 2010. He was born August 8, 1977, to Steven and Melva(Torson) Barnett. He married Veronica Waugh on 11 July 1997 at Salina.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Dighton.

Vernon was a lifetime resident of Dighton and graduated with the class of 1996 at Dighton High School and completed the John Deere Technician Program at Garden City Community College. He had worked for Lane County Implement, Farmers Co-op Oil and Supply and Ranger Feeders. He currently was the diesel mechanic at High Line Service in Dighton. Vernon enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles, cars, 4-wheelers, hunting and especially doing things with hthe boys.


Survivors include; wife Veronica, and sons, Hunter and Brady, all of the home; his parents; and his brother, Tod Barnett.

Funeral 2 p.m. at First Christian Church with Rev. Howard Beaver officiating. Burial in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call noon to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10:30 Tuesday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton, Kansas. Memorials to Barnett Children's Education Fund in care of the funeral home.
