Julia "Maw" Clayton, age 94 of Dalton, departed this life on Sunday, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, the Rev. France M. Clayton Sr.; a daughter, Sandra Clayton Massengill; a son, Bob Clayton, granddaughter, Gail Clayton Roper; and a great granddaughter, Tarren Conner.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Faye Clayton and Sanford Eugene Stephens; sons and daughters-in-law, Lenord and Maggie Clayton of Layette, Ben and Beverly Clayton of Cohutta, the Rev. France Jr. and Shelia Clayton of Hill City, and James Michael and Judy Clayton of Hill City; daughter-in-law Betty Banks Clayton; former special daughter-in-law, Lagonda Gribble; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral services was on Tuesday, at Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Henderson, Rev. Junior Clayton and Rev. Clayton Brown officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Marion Clayton, Terry Clayton, Kip Dyer , Ryan Dyer, Nick Conner and Dewey Conner.
Honoray pallbearers will be Jim Conner, Anthony Waters, Sanford E. Stephens Jr. Rodney Stephens and Hason Clayton.

Burial was in the United Memorial Gardens.
