"Ericksen Rites Await Word From Brother Overseas"
Funeral services for Charles Edward Ericksen, 30, who was killed in a two-car accident on state highway 50 west of Yankton Sunday night, are awaiting word from a brother in Germany, the Wass funeral home of Centerville reported today.
Mr. Ericksen was born June 6, 1929 in Irene. He attended the Irene Public Schools and worked on farms in the Irene area until enlistment in the army September 27, 1951. he served in the Korean conflict as a member of an armored division. he was transferred to the army reserve June 27, 1953, and remained in active status until discharge on October 1, 1959.
For the past several months he had lived with his mother, Mrs. Alma Ericksen, at Centerville. He was employed as a mechanic at Omar's Garage, Centerville.
Survivors also include four brothers - Roy, Cleghorn, IA.; Orville, Sioux Falls; Sanford, in the U.S. Army in Germany, and Raymond, Centerville; four sisters, Pearl, Mrs. Benjamin Tweedy, Fort Pierre; Avis, Mrs. Herbert Henkel, Minneapolis, and twins Emma and Irma, students at Augustana college; ten nephews and three nieces. His father, William, passed away in 1949.
