MANY, LA - Mrs. Thelma Hardin Miller, 96, of Many, passed away at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, LA. on July 2, from complications after surgery.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, at the First Baptist Church in Many. Graveside services at Many Cemetery will be conducted immediately after the funeral. Visitation is Tuesday, July 8, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many.

Mrs. Miller was born October 24, 1913, near Florien. She graduated from Plainview High School at the age of 16 in 1930. She began college that same year, but soon returned home to help on the family farm. Four years later, she returned to college and completed her bachelor's degree in 1938 at the Louisiana State Normal College in Natchitoches (now Northwestern State University). While still at college, she met the man who was to become her future husband. Thelma Hardin and Osborn Miller married in 1939.

Mrs. Miller worked as a business teacher at the Sabine Valley Vocational Technical College in Many for 23 years. When she retired, she devoted the rest of her life to her church, her family, gardening, and the many organizations to which she belonged.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Osborn R. Miller Sr., her parents William Hines Hardin and Essie Lee Hardin and eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Osborn Robert "Bob" Miller Jr., and his wife Carolyn of Round Rock, Tx.; her daughters, Betty Kaye Miller of Houston, Tx., and Judy Miller Botts of Alexandria, La. She is also survived by two sisters: Shirley Stewart and Margie Brogdon and one brother, Harold Hardin. Nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. also survive Mrs. Miller.

Her grandchildren are Anne Miller, Jimmy Miller, Billy Miller, Susan Boudreaux, Jennifer Mura, Stephen Bridges, Jeffrey Bridges, Julie Lamarche, and Stacey Bridges.

Mrs. Miller was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Many for almost 75 years. She was also an active member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, the Colonial Dames Society, the Order of Eastern Star, and her XYZ Sunday School class.

Mrs. Miller remained active until her unexpected death. All who knew her will long remember her for her devotion to her faith, her family and her kindness to everyone she met.

At her request, her grandsons, her granddaughters' husbands, and a great nephew will honor her by serving as her pallbearers. They are Jimmy Miller, Stephen Bridges, Billy Miller, Jeffrey Bridges, Jeremy Boudreaux, Mark Mura, Justin Lamarche and Robert Brocato.

Her nephews Ronald Whittington, Donald Whittington, Karl Hardin, Skipper Hardin, Danny Hardin, Buddy Hardin, Billy Brogdon and her granddaughter's husband L. J. Miller will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt and grateful thanks to her nephew Karl Hardin for his devotion during the last few years. The family would also like to thank her long-term family physician Dr. Jack Corley for his years of devoted care to Mr. and Mrs. Miller. Her family is also grateful to Marie Lester, Christy Cain and the staff at Harmony Home Health.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Many or the charity of one's choice.
