He was assistant supervisor for electrical maintenance at Dayton Power and Light when he retired in 1970 after 47 years with the company. He was active in the community and was a member of the Dayton Lodge of the F.A.&M., Helmsman Club, and Retiree's Club of D.P.& L.Co.
His older brother, Otto, named his first born son in honor of Edward. His nephew was informed that he drown while swimming off the beach in Hawaii during a vacation only a couple years after retiring.
