OBITUARY: born March 6, 1834 on the boundary line between Vermont and Canada, on the Vermont side..came to Mich with his parents in 1837 and was left an orphan at the age of 13..childhood spent in Detroit and Oakland County..came to Clinton Co in 1853 and was married to Miss Mina Wait, Aug 28, 1859...enlisted in Co B 4th Mich Cavalry, Aug 4, 1862..remained at the war front for nearly 3 years and was a participant in one of the most notable captures during the Civil War, being one of the advance guards in the capture of Jefferson Davis..honorably discharged Jul l5, 1865..family came to Saginaw Co and settled on farm..in 1897 he moved from the old to their present home where he died Oct 9..leaves wife, 3 daughters, 4 sons, Mrs. Carrie Snelling, Mrs. Lizzie Deveraux, Miss Bernice Sherborne, and Caleb, George, Preston, and Duston Sherburne
