Obituary, Miami Daily News Record, Miami, OK; 11/20/1961: James R. Hendricks, a retired policeman, lived near Grove, OK. Died age 77. A native of Tahlequah and a resident of Ottawa and Delaware counties much of his life, Mr. Hendricks was a retired policeman having served on police forces at Commerce, Nowata, Vinita and Chelsea. He was a former deputy U.S. marshal.
Surviving are a son, J.L. Hendricks, Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Smith, of the home near Grove; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at his funeral were Floyd Baker, Lowell Nix, Roger Williams, Sterling Meredith, Hershell Benge and Felix Wilburn.
