Chester D. Kauffman, 77, died Oct. 12 at the Stayton hospital. He was born in Kenmare, N.D.

He was ordained at Zion Mennonite Church in 1945 and had been a resident of Mulino for the past 36 years. He pastored at Meadowbrook Community Church for 15 years and at the time of his death was visitation pastor at the Calvary Mennonite Church in Aurora.

He is survived by his wife, Leona, of Mulino; a son, Merle, of Fontana, Calif.; a daughter, Carol Kauffman of South Beach; three brothers, Bill of Woodburn, Freeman of Barlow and Tillman of Oregon City; three sisters, Minnie Roth of Albany, Orfa Saucy of Milwaukie; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 16, at Calvary Mennonite Church. Burial was in Zion Mennonite Cemetery. Everhart & Kent Funeral Home in Molalla was in care of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Calvary Mennonite Church deacon's fund.
