Shippensburg Native Plane Crash Victim Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Courtney P. Hollar, Sr. of 33 N. Earl St., Shippensburg of the death Tuesday of their son, Maj. Courtney P. Hollar, Jr., 44, who was stationed with the U. S. Army in South Viet Nam. Major Courtney, who was a combat engineer, was one of 15 persons aboard a U. S. Army Caribou transport plane when it burst into flames a few seconds after taking off from the Tan Hiep military airfield in South Viet Nam. The crash occurred 25 miles southwest of Saigon. Major Hollar had been in Viet Nam for four months. Prior to that he had been stationed at an army base in Cleveland, Ohio. The major was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Shippensburg, and held membership in the Methodist Church. He graduated from Shippensburg Area Senior High School and entered the military service following graduation. He was affiliated with the Masonic organizations in Cleveland. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Mrs. Etta Clark Hollar, of Cleveland; a son, Kenneth Earl Hollar, of Oklahoma; a daughter, Mrs. Rochelle Perry, of Enola; and three grandchildren. Arrangements for funeral services have not been completed.
