W.E. MAHAFFEY
Services are pending with West Funeral Home for William E. Mahaffey, 94, who helped form Texas Street Lumber Co. He died in a local hospital Sunday. Mahaffey was born in Thornton,Texas. In 1905 he was married to the late Mary Lucy Prichett in Munday, Texas They farmed there until 1907 when they moved to Lovington. In 1921 they moved to Matador, Texas, where they farmed until 1928, when they moved to Portales to farm.
Survivors include six sons, Oran, Pecos, Texas, Wilton E., Albany, Oregon, and Robert A., Thomas J., Fred E., and Marvin G., all of Carlsbad; three daughters,
Bernice Garner, Alamogordo and Mable Wallace and Zyl Mahaffey, both of Carlsbad; three sisters, Mrs. J. P. Caudill, Edna Carr and Emma Goodman, all of Lovington; 23 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and five great-great grand-children.

Services for William E. Mahaffey will be held Thursday at 10 am at West Funeral Home chapel with the Rev Clyde Billingsley of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be V.L. Trapp, Kenneth Bowen, Walter Means, John Sulser, Leonard Stephenson and Ben Fanco.
