GASTON--Nancy Ann Nauman, 77, of Gaston, IN, and formerly of Bluffton, IN, died unexpectedly at Morrison Woods Health Campus.

Nancy graduated from Harrison High School with the class of 1952 and from Ball State University with a Bachelor's and Masters degree in English and Music Education. She taught music education in the Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District for 42 years, retiring in 2000. During those years she taught high school, middle school, and primarily elementary school music. She was privileged to have both the children and many of their parents as students. The God-given music talent Nancy possessed allowed her to teach and accompany countless students through the years in music programs, musical competitions and other musical endeavors. She was a very accomplished pianist and shared her talents at weddings, churches, and many other occasions. She had been a church organist for most of her adult years. Although Nancy had no children of her own, her nieces and nephews were very precious to her.

She was a member of the ISTA National Education Association (NEA), the National Association for Musical Education (NAfME), Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society, member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Epworth United Methodist Woman, the Home Advancement Club and other various organizations.

She is survived by three sisters, Martha Micuda of State College, PA, Janet DeWees (husband-Robert) of Gaston, and Marilyn Bessler (husband-William) of Mankato, MN; one sister-in-law, Lois Nauman of Gaston, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Virginia (Martin) Nauman; a brother, James Everett Nauman; a brother-in-law, Vladimir Micuda; and special friend, Bruce Summa.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown Chapel, with Dr. Joyce Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in the Hawk Cemetery, north of Yorktown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church @ Steve Morgan (treasurer) @14810 West CR 700 North, Gaston, IN 47342.
