Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 30, at United Methodist Church in Clarence, with the Rev. Tom Biatek officiating. Sally Sawyer was the organist and a mixed quartet sang. Pallbearers were Robert Hunwardsen, Frank Fisher Jr., Roger Baldwin, Max Taylor, Wayne Syring and James Sawyer, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Clifford Crist and Henry Klatt. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.
Norine E. Crawford was born August 31, 1908, in Benton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles and Euta (Beller) Crawford. The family later moved to Tipton, Iowa. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1926. She attended and received her teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught at several in the rural schools to include, Hebron from 1929-1930, Spring Creek from 1930-1931 and Cass No #4 from 1932-1934. In 1935, she taught elementary school in Tipton and later taught elementary school in Clarence. She married Marvin William Schilling on October 12, 1940, in Tipton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Clarence, where she taught Sunday school and played the organ, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Tipton Woman's Club and the Wednesday Literary Club in Clarence.
Surviving are her husband, Marvin; one son, Phillip Schilling; two sisters, Edith (Charles) Glidden of Cedar Rapids and Eva (Howard) Murrison of Durant; and one half brother, John (Neva) Crawford of Washinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Erma Crawford, one son, William Schilling, one granddaughter, Suzanne Schilling and two sisters, Elizabeth and Reba Crowford.
