The following obituary appeared in The Decatur Daily on Wednesday, 12 October 1960:

Lucian C. Chenault

Funeral services for Lucian C. Chenault, 77, 618 5th Ave. SE, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church, south of Danville. The Rev. W. W. Coffey and the Rev. Dan Dutton will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Chenault died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nevy W. Chenault, Decatur; four daughters, Miss Johnye Chenault, Decatur; Mrs. T. O. Slaten, Mrs. Odus Legg and Mrs. K. M. Beasley, all of Birmingham; four sons, Robert and Ernest Chenault, both of Decatur; Oscar Chenault, Moulton, and Roy Chenault, Sheffield; three brothers, Wesley, Tom, and Matt Chenault; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Hogan, Danville, and Mrs. Pruett Stephenson, Hartselle; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
