Mary Ann White Ball
April 18, 1844 - April 4, 1914

Daughter of George Washington & Susannah K. (Wallace) White.
Married Valentine Z. Ball October 25, 1870 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He was a widower with four young children, Oscar F., 1859-; Caleb A., 1861-1907; Eugene, 1864-1882 and Elizabeth Idora, 1866-1944.
V. Z. and Mary Ann together had nine children.
They moved by rail with the family from Mercer County, Pennsylvania to Cherokee County, Kansas in 1883. In 1886 they moved to a farm they had purchased on Dec. 11, 1883, where they had also built a new house. There they reared their family and spent the remainder of their life on the farm.
She died at their farm home on RR#1 Hallowell, Kansas.
In 2010 my sister and her husband, James H. and Betty Shanks, still own the farm that has been in our family for the past 126 years.
