Rufus C. Kinzie, 72, lifelong resident of Miami and Howard counties, dies at 10:30 o'clock Saturday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Kraning, northeast of Peru on route 3.
Mr. Kinzie lived at 1728 South Purdum street, Kokomo, but during his four months illness he made his home with his daughter. He was a retired farmer and auctioneer. At the time he was stricken by illness he was employed by the Osco Chemical company. He had the Miami county agency for the company's products.
Mr. Kinzie was born March** 8, 1876 in Jefferson township, Miami county, son of Samuel C and Malinda Ann (Onesby) Kinzie. He was married March 7, 1897 to Sarah Fisher who preceded him in death in 1942.
Surviving besides Mrs. Kraning, at whose home he died, are four other children, H. R. Kinzie of Mexico, Clayson of Bunker Hill, Dale V. of Roann, Wayne R. of Denver and Garreth of Peru; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A prayer service will be held at the daughters home at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and at 2 o'clock services will be held at the Mexico Church of the Brethren of which the deceased was a member. The Rev. Robert Sink will officiate and burial will follow in the Greenlawn cemetery at Mexico.
