Ories Dennis (O.D.) Divers, 84, of Huntersville, N.C., passed away July 1, 2010. Graveside Service 1 p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle. Arrangements by Rader Funeral Home, Daleville, Va., 540-992-1212.

Ories Dennis (O.D.) Divers, age 84 of Huntersville, NC passed away on 7/1/2010. OD was born in Franklin County Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Lee and Geneva Powell Divers and Step-mother Effie Weaver Divers; Brothers/Sisters-in-law Myrtle (Paul) Brubaker, Alma (Jacob) Brubaker, Robert (Hattie) Divers, Lloyd Divers, Boyd Divers, Alfred Divers, Ethel (Steward) Seitz, Gilbert Divers, and Gertrude Gibson.

Survivors include his sweetheart and loving wife of 63 years, Alma Ann Gibson Divers of Huntersville, NC and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Marie Divers McManaway and Dave McManaway, Huntersville, NC. Additionally. brothers/sisters-in-law, Elas (Barbara) Divers of Pansy, AL, Zelma (Leonard) Hubbard of Troutville, VA, Helen (William) Ronk of Fincastle, VA, Rosa Divers of Westminster, MD, Romaine Divers of Sykesville, MD, and Ann Divers of Vinton, VA. Joe Gibson and Fred Gibson, Elmer (Mary Alice) Gibson of Troutville, VA. And special friends Sue Duncan and Rosetta Sebastian of Huntersville, NC.

OD proudly served in the United States Marines during the Korea War while Alma Ann waited patiently embroidering and crocheting . He worked for Merita Bakery for 31 years. He and Alma Ann lived in Fincastle VA for most of their lives and moved to Huntersville NC in 2000 to live close to their daughter and only child. OD was an avid Boston Red Soxs fan that also enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. He will always be remembered for his quiet wisdom and kind spirit.

Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville VA on Monday, 7/5/2010 from 10:00am to Noon. A graveside service at 1:00pm at Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle, VA. A light luncheon celebration with cake and ice cream will be held at the Fincastle Methodist Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, please consider Habitat for Humanity or www.ourtownshabitat.org, Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman or www.hpccr.org or charity of your choice.
