Una Bertelsen Bryan of Springville, Utah, age 95, passed away on March 5, 2006 at the UVRMC in Provo from a short illness.

She was born on August 30, 1910 in Monroe, Utah to William and Amanda Clarinda Sorensen Bertelsen. Una was the third of four children: Cecil, William, and Letha Bertelsen Clyatt.

She loved her school days in Monroe where speech and dramatics were her chief interests. After graduation from South Severe High School Una attended the Henager Business College in Salt Lake City. While attending HBC she lived in the Beehive House. She later attended BYU and additionally added to her vocational experience. She worked as a Secretary for the South Severe High School at Monroe and then as an Elementary school teacher at Dragerton for two years. The Bryan family then made their permanent home in Springville. Una was then employed for three years at the State Hospital in Provo. Later she worked many years as an Executive Secretary to the Dean of Admissions and Records at BYU.

On June 21, 1935, Una married her sweetheart Lauren Bryan of Ferron, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They became the parents of four children: Lauren Lee, Lucile, Merril, and Deanna. For many years the family enjoyed traveling, gardening, reunions, and fun family things leaving great memories with all.

Una was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 42. She was the great-great-grandmother of one. She loved and was very close to her sister and two brothers as well as all the nieces, nephews, and grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. She found a great interest and pleasure in being a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers organization. She worked diligently at her assignments because of her love and devotion to her ancestors.

Una is survived by three of her children: Lucile (Bob) of Springville, Merril (Susan) of Page, Arizona, Deanna Bryan of Provo, and daughter-in-law Joyce (Lauren Lee) Bryan of Henderson, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband Lauren and son Lauren Lee.

A viewing will be held at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah on Wednesday evening, March 8, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the service at 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning at the Hobble Creek West Stake Center, 555 South 600 East (Averett Ave.), Springville, Utah. The service will begin at Noon. Interment will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
