Mary Leona was the fourth of ten children who grew to adulthood who were born to Dr. Samuel Burling DICKINSON and his wife, Caroline Elizabeth KINNISON. There was an eleventh child, a baby boy, who was unnamed and who died either as an infant or in childbirth. His place in birth sequence is unknown thus far.

On 04 Feb 1863, Mary Leona was married in Madison County, Mississippi to Daniel Littleton CAMERON (1842-1921). He was born in Mississippi. His parents were believed to have been John Charles CAMERON, b. c1814 in Franklin County, Mississippi and Angeline M. MUNDAY, b. c1826 in Franklin County, Mississippi.

Mary Leona and Daniel had five known children who grew to adulthood. Their names and approximate years of birth are shown below. In the 1910 census, Mary Lorena reported 6 children born, 5 living indicating one child had died probably in childbirth or soon thereafter. But, in the 1910 census, she reported 5 children born and 5 living.
