OBITUARY :
BERNADETTE MARIE WILLARD ROYER, 89, of Sabillasville, Md., died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the home of her granddaughter, Rebecca Smith.
Born April 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Pauline (Kuhn) Willard.
She was the wife of the late James Paul Royer, who died in 1988.
She lived in the Highfield/Sabillasville area all her life. She was a dedicated homemaker, and in her younger years, she loved to bake. She was especially known for her good cooking, homemade cakes and bread.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and read her Bible daily.
She is survived by a son, James L. Royer and wife, Peggy, of Sabillasville; a daughter, Carol L. Royer of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; granddaughters, Rebecca L. Smith and husband, Vanick, of Sabillasville, and Lisa M. Kennedy and husband, Tom, of Coppell, Texas; granddaughter-in-law, Christina Royer of Sabillasville; great-grandchildren, Taylor Kennedy of Coppell, and Krista Royer, Skyla Smith and Kylie Putman, all of Sabillasville. She will also be remembered by sister-in-law, Jeanne Royer Koons of Harrisburg, Pa.; brother-in-law, Joe Royer and wife, Josie, of Thurmont; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and friend and neighbor, Irene Flaugher of Sabillasville.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Steven J. Royer; and a brother, Charles Willard and wife, Betty.
The family extends appreciation for the care and support provided by Hospice of Frederick County.
Services to celebrate her life will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Germantown-Bethel Church of God, Cascade, with Pastor Janet Comings officiating. Internment will be in Germantown-Bethel Church of God Cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, Md.
