Joseph D. Converth, 90, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born on April 19, 1918 in Dodge City, the son of Frank and Bernice (Connaway) Converth.

Mr. Converth was a farmer and liftetime resident of Dodge City and Ford County. On November 6, 1941, he married Maxine B. McComas in Great Bend. She preceeded him in death on August 17, 2008.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Moose Lodge both of Dodge City as well as a member of the Kansas Wheat Growers Association. Joe was a past president of Dodge City Coop Board.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, January 11, 2009 from noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials can be made to St. Catherine Hospice in care of the funeral home.
