Gladys F. Nelson, 67, Carterville, died at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, after a long illness.

Mrs. Nelson was born March 27, 1925, at Seneca. She was a lifelong area resident. She had worked as a cook at Truckers Inn, south of Joplin. She retired in 1986. She was a member of Hart Baptist Church, south of Seneca.

She married Robert Nelson in July 1944 at Columbus, KS. He died May 1, 1977.

Survivors include a son, Troy E. Nelson, Webb City; a daughter, Sharon Hillegus, Carterville; a brother Harold Gene Arehart, Joplin; and seven grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin. Burial was in Swars Prairie Cemetery, near Seneca.

Pallbearers were Harold Arehart, Marvin Grow, Bobby Graves, Al Baker, Tod Vaughn, Mark Vaughn and Doug Wallace.
