Mary Christian, 71, passed away of natural causes at her home in Woodhull, IL, on Tuesday June 16, 2009. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Alice Christian was born September 2, 1937, in Putnam County, MO, the daughter of Walter and Ivine (Swiger) Christian who preceded her in death. She was reared in Putnam County where she attended rural schools. She had lived in the Moline, IL, area for several years where she worked as a waitress. One of her favorite places to work was the Omelet Shop in Moline.
Mary was completely devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to cook for family gatherings and especially enjoyed picnics in the city park. Mary is survived by her five children, Dennis Robbins and his wife Teresa of Chillicothe, MO; Michael Robbins and his wife Keri of Woodhull, IL; Debbie Zaiss and her husband Mike Delp of Coal Valley, IL; Mary Kundert and her husband Randy of Woodhull, IL; and Tabitha Estes and her husband Jon of Moline, IL. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Three brothers, Edwin Christian of E. Moline, IL, Bill Christian of Allerton, IA, and Paul Christian of Unionville, MO, as well as a sister, Janet Devore of Plano, IA, also survive.
In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Miller and Phyllis Jean Christian, and by three brothers, Everett Wyant, Dwain Wyant, and Gerald (Speed) Christian.
Funeral services for Mary Alice Christian will be Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the West Liberty Cemetery west of Unionville, MO. Memorials are suggested to the family and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO, 63565.
