Local Priest dies at 64
Mt. Washington, Ky. - The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church here last Saturday, April 1, for Father Bernard Hartlage, a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville who died last week. Burial was in St. Louis Cemetery, Louisville.
Father Hartlage, 64, was pastor of St. Francis Xavier since 1974. He died March 28 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.
Father Hartlage; who was ordained in 1938, also had served as pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church, New Hope, Ky., Ascension, Louisville; and St. Benedict, Lebanon Junction.
He also served at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Louisville, and was procurator at St. Thomas Seminary. He studied at St. Meinrad Seminary.
Father Hartlage is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Stucker, Mrs. Gertrude Mitchell and Mrs. Catherine Meffert.
