Thomas C. Pinkerton was the second son of James Pinkerton and his second wife Mary A. Cochran. Thomas enlisted in Aug of 1862 to join the Union Army in the 84th Illinois Infantry. His brother joined the same day. His brother died at Stone River and was buried there. Thomas was sent back to his home in Biggsville where he died of camp fever two months after his brothers death. His name along with his brothers is listed on the Civil War Monument north of Biggsville at Oquawka. Listed on the monument are 200 men that died in the Civil War from Henderson Co. IL
