Ella Louise Davis, 77, of Whitt, Texas, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at her home. Service is 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Rev. W.O. Harrell officiating. Burial will be in the Whitt Cemetery with the Adell-Whitt Volunteer Firemen serving as pallbearers. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Louise was born June 13, 1933, in Crockett, Texas, the daughter of David and Eula Jones Willis. She married Jimmie Davis on Jan. 28, 1970, in Frederick, Okla. She was the first female chief law enforcement officer in Brazoria, Texas, and she also organized the Palo Pinto County Women's Civil Defense Corps. She was a member of the New Vision Assembly of God Church in Mineral Wells. Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Davis, of Whitt; daughters, Rhonda Thomas, of Millsap, and Lisa Belding, of Corinth, Texas; brother, Cecil Willis and his wife, Carol, of Mineral Wells; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her step-father, Lonnie Roberson Sr., and mother, Eula, preceded her in death.
