Ernest served as an Electrician's Mate 3rd Class, U.S.S. LST-531, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Rehoboth, Sussex County, Delaware prior to the war.

Ernest was declared "Lost At Sea" when LST-531 was torpedoed and sunk by German motor torpedo boats south of England in what was known as "Exercise Tiger" during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Son of Laura White.
