Our beautiful and loving mom, grandma, Nana, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor died peacefully on June 24, 2010 in Provo Utah.

She was born on a ranch near Hiko, Nevada to Emma Gee and Hugh Evans Love. She loved to tell stories of her childhood on the ranch, getting into mischief, getting bucked off her dad's horse Floury, and attending the one room school house. She moved with her mother, sister and brother to Utah when she was in grade school. She graduated from East High School at age 16. She earned a B.S. degree in business from the University of Utah. There she met Ben Glade; they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Nov. 7, 1941.

Irene and Ben moved frequently with the army during their first years of marriage. While Ben fought in Europe during World War II, she worked in Salt Lake, then in San Francisco. They continued to move throughout their married life establishing happy homes filled with memories in Salt Lake, Denver, St. Louis, then back to Salt Lake and finally to Provo, Utah. They were the parents of one daughter and two sons. Ben passed away after 53 years of marriage. Some of her last words were, "Family is everything." She loved family time together and was happiest during family dinners, holiday parties, vacations, and reunions. She was a devoted friend and neighbor and had a knack for developing loving friendships that lasted throughout her life. She was quick to notice every good deed that was done by others.

She loved teenagers. She taught high school business classes for twenty years in St. Louis and Salt Lake City. She loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served throughout her life. She taught for and was in the presidencies of all church auxiliaries. She particularly loved the youth and served as both ward and stake Young Women's President. She guided tours in the Church Office and Joseph Smith Buildings. She loved serving in the temple. Just a few days before her most recent illness, at age 91 carrying her oxygen tank, she served as a pink lady at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ben, both parents, and her beloved sister Helen. She is survived by her brother Howard; her children: Suzanne Lynne (Jeffery) Mendenhall, Gordon Benjamin (Meg) Glade, Mark Hamilton (Kyla) Glade; 18 grandchildren, and twenty plus great grandchildren.

Viewing will be at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 South State Street in Orem on Tues., June 29, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wed, June 30, 2010, at the Grandview 9th ward chapel, at 1555 N 1350 W, Provo, UT, with a viewing at the chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Because mom was certain about the value of education and because she adored missionaries, in lieu of flowers please contribute to the Perpetual Education Fund or the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
