Aged Farmer and Confederate Veteran Expires After Brief Illness.

Isaac Delivers, an aged farmer and Confederate veteran, died yesterday morning shortly after 1 o'clock at his home about two miles north of Harrisonburg on the Mt. Clinton pike. Saturday morning at the breakfast table he was stricken with neuralgia of the stomach, from which he could find no relief. His death was due to exhaustion. Deceased was born May 9th, 1933 in the Lacey Spring neighborhood, and spent his life at farming in Rockingham County. He was a Confederate soldier, serving under the Southern banner for more than three years. His first wife, who was Miss Amanda Messick, of the Amberly neighborhood, died many years ago, leaving the following children: Mrs. Benjamin Cromer, Mrs. William Steele, Edward, Thomas and Charles Deavers, the just named a resident of Alexandria. His second wife, who was Miss Rebecca Holston, of the Suters Shop neighborhood, survives him with t h e following children — Dr. William Bowers, of New Erection; Mrs. Edward Ritchie, Miss Ellen Deavers, Mrs. Ed. Gowl, of Sky, David H Deavers, and Miss Polly Deavers, who lives at Remington, Fauquier County. Mr. Deavers was a member of the Antioch Christian church. The funeral will be held at New Erection tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock, the funeral party leaving the house at 10 o'clock. Services will be conducted by Rev. A. W. Andes, assisted by Rev. H A Young. Interment will be made in the cemetery near the church.
