Mary Ann Barton Larsen, 82, of Orem, died Saturday, September 21, 1996 at home.

She was born February 17, 1914, in Price, Utah, the daughter of Joseph Thomas and Mary Ann Norris Barton.

Mary was raised in Nevada and met her husband, Rex Brent Larsen, while attending BYU.

They were married June 7, 1934, in the Salt Lake Temple.

He preceded her in death on December 9, 1995.

After her marriage, she lived in Provo until 1982 when she moved to Orem.

Mary worked as a secretary for Ahlander Hardware and BYU Student Housing.

Mary was a member of the LDS Church, at the time of her death she was a visiting teacher supervisor.

Mary worked in the Sunday School as a teacher and secretary.

She worked in Primary for more than 30 years as a teacher, secretary, primary historian and president.

Mary wrote the ward newspaper and wrote to all the missionaries and men in service every month.

Mary was president of the Relief Society.

She was a den mother and worked many years in Scouting, she earned many awards including the Silver Fawn.

Mary taught genealogy and worked in extraction.

She did her own family genealogy from the age of 12 years until the time of her death.

She and her husband, Rex, served a mission in the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission.

She is survived by four daughters and three sons, Carolyn (Kent) Westwood, West Valley City; Rayanna (Terry) Christiansen, Orem; Martha (Paul) Carroll, Richfield; Mary Ann (Ronald) Dickinson, Fillmore; Joseph Larsen, Spartanburg, South Carolina; Bart Larsen, Cary Illinois; Kenneth Larsen, Salt Lake City; 43 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 1996, at 11 a.m. at the Orem Canyon View Chapel, 1135 No. 400 East, Orem.

Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center, on Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. or at the Ward Chapel on Thursday one hour prior to services.

Interment: Provo City Cemetery.
