Sarah Ann "Sally Ann" Wilson Stokes is the daughter of Samuel Wilson and his first wife, her name is unknown. She has two siblings: Elihu (1811-1861) and William Burton (1813-1869).


She married Rev. Robert Firman Stokes on 22 May 1832 in Putnam Co. They had seven sons: Samuel Brinton, Russell Thompson, William Simpson, Wesley Strange, Milton Jimison, Melville Keath, and John Nelson. Samuel, Russell, William, Wesley and Milton volunteered to serve with the Union Army during the Civil War. Samuel and William died fighting for the cause.
